About Evie (“EE-vee”)

I am a freelance narrative + development consultant, with a specialty in supporting justice-centered arts nonprofits. I am also sometimes available as a freelance writer, writing coach, developmental editor, sensitivity reader, and teacher.

I currently live between New York, Los Angeles, and Croatia.

My Background

My many areas of expertise emerge from accomplished full-time careers in nonprofit administration, curriculum design, and teaching creative writing, literature, and gender studies for high schools, undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as lifelong learning centers.

Previously, I have been the inaugural Director of Literary Arts at Chautauqua Institution, Director of Writing Programs at Catapult, year-round Creative Writing faculty at Interlochen Arts Academy, and summer Literature & Film faculty for Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.

I studied creative writing and literature at Carnegie Mellon (BA) and Louisiana State (MFA), and I’m completing PhD work at Utah. I have also been a Fulbright Research Scholar in the arts (Croatia) and a Critical Language Scholar in Korean (South Korea).

Current Work

Recent multi-session consulting clients include Restless Books (2025) and Split This Rock (2025), where I supplied a combination of narrative strategy and grant writing services.

I also offer writing coaching services for application materials (e.g., for university studies, employment, fellowship/residency), as well as developmental editing and/or sensitivity reads for full-length manuscripts.

Recent semester-length classes include creative writing and narrative theory at the University of Split’s Department of English Language & Literature (2023-2024), at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
